
Virginia ’s Project TREAT (Training & Resources for Effective Adolescent Treatment) is a three-year initiative funded through SAMHSA and managed through the Office of Child and Family Services of the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. Funds were allocated to 15 states and the District of Columbia to increase capacity to meet the complex and multi-faceted needs of youth with a substance use or co-occurring disorder and to provide services that are accessible, culturally competent, comprehensive, and community based.
The primary goals of Project TREAT are:
- Collaboration
- Evidence Based Practice Dissemination
- Family Involvement
- Workforce Development
- Budget and Finance.
The Project partners with the Mid-Atlantic ATTC and the position of Training Coordinator is staffed through the Mid-Atlantic ATTC.

This is Project TREAT’s statewide series of FREE trainings sponsored by the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS), the Mid-Atlantic ATTC and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Future locations include Northern VA (Dates will soon be announced.)
