Addiction Careers

The new and improved workforce recruitment Web site, www.addictioncareers.org, is NOW LIVE!!!

Imagine Who You Could Save is a campaign designed to recruit people to the rewarding profession of substance use disorders treatment.  Four groups, the Northeast ATTC, NAADAC, the Central East ATTC, and the ATTC National Office, came together to highlight the positive impact that addictions treatment professionals can make on individuals and their communities. The ongoing campaign includes numerous components such as an award winning video, the addictioncareers.org Web site, and a variety of other marketing materials.


Knowledge Application Program
Identifying and Helping Patients With Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Disorders: A Guide for Primary Care Providers, Fall 2006, Volume 4, Issue 2
, explores the complex relationship between co-occurring substance use and mental disorders, including the identification of patients with co-occurring disorders and providing or obtaining appropriate treatment for such disorders.

The ADDICTION Project, was Kicked Off March 15

On March 15-18, HBO launched the Addiction Project

A groundbreaking multi-media campaign to help Americans understand addiction as a treatable brain disease, spotlight new treatment advancements, and provide hope for long-term recovery.

CSAT Travel Awards
The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is expected to sponsor 30 Travel Awards for substance abuse treatment practitioners to attend the 2007 CPDD (College on Problems of Drug Dependence) meeting. To be eligible, candidates must hold full-time employment as a director or clinical supervisor in a substance abuse treatment program and not be an employee of the federal government. Only one award will be given to any specific program. Previous CSAT travel award recipients are not eligible to apply. To apply, send five copies of the following:

 a letter stating interest in receiving an award and a statement (not to exceed one page) as to how this conference will benefit your work in your current position;
 a letter of support from your direct supervisor stating should you be selected that you will be allowed to attend; a complete resume/vita of your work and academic experiences.

Deadline for applications is January 15. Applicants are required to arrive prior to 4:30 PM on June 15, attend a networking session sponsored by CSAT in the evening on June 15, the CSAT-sponsored satellite session June 16, a breakfast sponsored by CPDD for the awardees on June 17, and remain for the entire CPDD meeting.
