Mid-Atlantic Higher Education Consortium

The Mid-Atlantic Higher Education Consortium is comprised of faculty from universities and colleges in North Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia who teach or are interested in addiction education courses and programs.

Each state consortium sets their own goals and initiatives, which are on the individual consortium pages linked below. Additionally, the larger regional consortium has begun to plan regional initiatives on two fronts:

  1. Planning of faculty development events such as the Mid-Atlantic Addiction Educator's Conference. this event has been held three times, with a fourth conference currently being planned.
  2. A project which involves applying information from TAP 21 and various other sources in order to: 1) Define a regional scope of practice for the field on three levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels; 2) Differentiate specific education and training responsibilities of higher education, on-the-job training, and continuing education for practitioners in the field; and 3) Develop training and education that fills the largest and most important proficiency gaps identified by the national survey data.
